A Comedy of Business, Family, and the Power of a Simple Pickle
In Hoboken, New Jersey, the 1980s are a time of change and renewal—new restaurants, businesses, and housing developments rise in the shadows of New York City, attracting a new wave of customers. But for the Rovinsky family, running their dream restaurant is a daily struggle of hard work, big personalities, and one very peculiar customer.
Meet George Rawlins, a 62-year-old businessman and property owner. At just 5’2” with a big mustache, he’s a man of few words and big secrets. Every single day, George takes his usual seat in the Rovinsky’s restaurant, orders his usual meal, and never leaves without a pickle—earning him the secret nickname: The Pickle Man.
His assistant, Paul, a timid accountant, whispers cryptic messages to him before vanishing out the door.
Meanwhile, Clide Rovinsky, a hardworking short-order cook turned restaurant owner, and his wife Sharon, a no-nonsense cafeteria veteran, run the family restaurant with determination and grit. Their son, Big Willy, a 6’2” muscle-bound business grad, is learning the ropes—with his fierce, take-no-mess girlfriend Clairice acting as his official watchdog to keep him in line.
What the Rovinskys don’t know is that their most loyal and mysterious customer, “The Pickle Man,” actually owns their building—and has been secretly funding their success all along.
With hilarious misunderstandings, quirky characters, and a heartwarming twist, The Pickle Man is a lighthearted comedy about family, food, and how one man’s love for a simple pickle changes everything.
